Gibbs and Associates will demonstrate GibbsCAM 2013, highlighting new capabilities such as feature- and knowledge-based machining, contouring and pocketing improvements, and new options for turbomachinery and engine porting specializations. The 2013 release is designed for programming and machining efficiency as well as increased productivity.

GibbsCAM features high speed machining (HSM) capabilities including the use of VoluMill. The HSM capabilities are said to maximize material removal rates by building toolpaths to optimally control tool-cutting factors. The software automatically takes into account options for milling pockets such as the optimal speed of a tool plunging into the material. Variation in tool load is smoothed, enabling higher feeds and faster speeds.

The program also provides multitasking capabilities for both turning and milling. The machine tool’s specific configuration is automatically captured by GibbsCAM’s settings, and support is provided for an unlimited number of turrets and spindles. Only one set up is required for the machine to transfer the part from spindle to spindle.

GibbsCAM sister software CimatronE from the Cimatron Group will also be displayed. The software is an integrated CAD/CAM program for mold and die makers as well as discrete part manufacturers.
