ICAM Technologies Corporation’s SmartPath software is designed to automatically optimize machine tool motions and positions based on standard tool paths generated by CAD/CAM systems. According to the company, the software reduces rapid motion time.
SmartPath identifies non-optimized and unsafe positioning motions and automatically replaces them with minimized, safe motions based on machine tool kinematics, physical travel limits, axes positioning rates and the dynamically changing in-process stock, the company says.
The software reduces manufacturing cycle time by minimizing machine tool motions and positions, while maximizing part accessibility and the machine’s working envelope. In addition, the software enables operators to quickly migrate a part program from one CNC to another.
