Sharp Industries offers its SG-2NA series of surface grinders featuring two-axis NC control. The grinders are suitable for applications such as plunge, slot and step grinding; grinding precision slots and ladders; and crisscross and other regular surface grinding applications.

The spindle head travels on a linear guideway for smooth, accurate movements. Both the downfeed and cross-feed motions are driven by AC servomotors and precision ballscrews, while movement of the X axis is driven by a hydraulic system. The two-axis NC control with color touchscreen uses a conversational-type instruction to prompt users for the necessary data. Once the data is entered, graphics display the position of the grinding wheel in the Z and Y axes.

Five sizes are available, with working surfaces ranging from 7.9" × 18.1" to 15.7" × 39.4" and a spindle-to-table surface ranging from 3.8" × 20" to 3.8" × 27.6". All grinder models feature a front-mounted swivel-base operating console with a portable electronic hand wheel for digital movement of the spindle and cross-feed saddle.
