Strausak, a division of Rollomatic, will exhibit its U-Grind five-axis CNC tool grinder at IMTS, featuring thermal stability to ease consistent, accurate, small batch production and regrinding. The machine comes with an automatic wheel changer and a direct-drive 12-kW (17-hp) grinding spindle with an optional automatic loader. An automatic quick-change system eases collet and tool change, along with an ISO 50-taper toolholder. A touch probe is available as an option for grinding wheel qualification.
The machine uses the NUM Fleximum CNC and the NUMROTOplus tool grinding software, providing 3D tool simulation, machine animation and collision checking, as well as digitization of existing cutting edges for regrinding or grinding pre-fluted tools. Additional software is available for complex step/form tools, hobs, burs, shape cutters, T-slot cutters, high-performance end mills and drills, routers and other types of cutting tools.
