DMG Mori Seiki’s DMF 600 linear traveling-column machining center offers X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measuring 6,000 × 1,100 × 900 mm. Y- and Z-axis feed rates are 60 m/min., while rapid traverse rates range to 80 m/min. The linear drive in the X axis is said to promote accuracy and decrease non-productive time during tool changes. The machining center is designed for use in the aerospace industry and is suitable for workpieces ranging to 10 tons.

The DMF 600 is equipped with an 8,000-rpm spindle, and 10,000- and 18,000-rpm spindles are also available. A bed cast from HPC and a thermo-symmetric traveling column help to promote rigidity and long-term stability. The machine also features DMG Mori Seiki’s Operate 4.5 platform on a Siemens 840D solutionline control. This platform encompasses the machine tool’s complete automation technology from drives to the CNC, the company says. The machining center can be equipped with two NC round tables to enable five-axis pendulum machining or two mill-turn tables for completing turn-mill operations in two separate work areas.
