Milltronics CNC Machines' Challenger Series SL5000 slant-bed turning center features a FANUC OiTD CNC and is tailored for heavy-duty production. The 18" (450-mm) chuck and 6" (153-mm) spindle bore make the TURNING center well-suited for the energy industry, especially for pipe-threading applications and the manufacture of sensors and instrumentation for the downhole oilfield industry.
The machine’s maximum turning diameter is 27" (700 mm) and the maximum turning length is 50" (1,300 mm). The hydraulic indexing turret has 12 stations to accommodate 1.25" tooling. The boxway turning center is driven by a 50-hp (38-kW) spindle motor with a two-speed gearbox. Maximum spindle torque is 1,600 foot-pounds (2,155 Nm) at 105 rpm, and 5,950 lbs (2,705 kg) of Z-axis thrust deliver optimum performance in the toughest materials, the company says.
