DMG MORI’s NLX 6000|2000, which is the successor of DMG MORI’s SL series, is designed for applications in the energy and oil industries as well as hydraulic and mechanical engineering. The machine features a turning length of 78.7" and a Y-axis option with ±100-mm stroke plus individual spindle variations, as well as an optional BMT turret for demanding milling operations.

The universal turning machine features a 45-degree, slant-bed design with flat guides ranging to 7.1" wide in all axes to optimize damping properties and dynamic rigidity. Ballscrews with a 1.9" and a headstock with an integrated motor spindle and a built-in tailstock increase stability. It can turn workpieces ranging to 36.2" in diameter and 78.7" long. To accommodate long workpieces, the machine features 485-mm X-axis travel, 200mm ± 100 mm Y-axis travel and 2,150 mm X-axis travel. The maximum chuck size is 600 mm.

Like the work area, the available spindle bores are also largely dimensioned. The series offers 185-mm diameter (type B), 285-mm diameter (type C) and 375-mm diameter (type D) bores. The Big Bore spindles achieve torques of around 5,162.9 foot-pounds in the case of type B and ranging to 8,850.7 foot-pounds for the two larger versions. Where the turret is concerned, the NLX 6000|2000 features the chipping performance of a milling machine: The integrated drive motor with BMT technology has a maximum speed of 4,000 rpm and a torque of 86.3 foot-pounds. There is space for 12 powered tools.

The powder-coated housing is scratch-resistant, the door handles feature an ergonomic design and the work-area view is optimized. In addition, the 21.5" control panel with touchscreen and touchpanel includes the Celos user interface with MAPPS V.
