The UMC-750 universal machining center from Haas Automation is a versatile, five-axis 40-taper VMC. It features X-Y-Z travels of 30" × 22" × 20" and is equipped with a 40+1 tool side-mount tool changer. The machine is equipped with an integrated dual-axis trunnion table and 8,100-rpm inline direct-drive spindle.

The UMC-750’s dual-axis trunnion table can position parts to nearly any angle for five-sided (3+2) machining, or provide full-simultaneous five-axis motion, the company says. The trunnion provides +35 and -110 degrees of tilt and 360 degrees of rotation for tool clearance and large part capacity, and the 630 × 500-mm table features standard T-slots and a precision pilot bore for fixturing versatility.

The machine’s spindle is powered by a 30-hp vector drive system. The inline system couples the spindle directly to the motor to reduce heat, increase power transmission and provide quality surface finishes. For increased spindle speeds, an optional 12,000-rpm inline direct-drive spindle is also available. Both spindles yield 90 foot-pounds of torque.

Other options include a belt-type chip conveyor; high-pressure, through-spindle coolant systems; high speed machining control software; the Haas Wireless Intuitive Probing System; and expanded program memory.
