VMC Resists Thermal Deformation
The high-performance NXV1680A vertical machining center from YCM Americas is available with 12,000- or 15,000-rpm, 40-hp spindles.
The high-performance NXV1680A vertical machining center from YCM Americas is available with 12,000- or 15,000-rpm, 40-hp spindles. The spindle includes a tool unclamping cushion designed to extend spindle bearing life by protecting it from the tool unclamping force. The machine’s ceramic bearings with low inertia mass, low centrifugal force and high rigidity are said to provide a low coefficient of thermal deformation. High-precision helical springs provide balance and decreased vibration. All three axes are equipped with roller guideways, with six slider blocks in the X axis and four guideways on the Y and Z axes.
The VMC is available with a 24- or 30-station automatic toolchanger equipped with an absolute encoder to provide stability and speed. The inverter-controlled system also prevents tool-change speed variances under different power supply frequencies, the company says. Other features include a standard five-auger chip-evacuation system with four augers along the Y axis and one along the X axis for efficient chip removal.
