The CNC grinder produces tools for less.  In these examples we are assuming a short setup time of 5 minutes. Meaning you have prepared wheel packs ahead of time, and you only need to put them on the machine, maybe change out a  collet, and load a pallet with a small batch of tools.  So this is a repeat job, it’s come back and now you want to make them again.

As you can observe, the cost per tool is relatively low, and the more tools you grind the lower the cost.  This is in contrast to the typical manual machine setup, where the operator almost has to setup and grind each tool individually, plus multiple machine setups may be required for that single tool.

If you have a longer setup time it may look like this …..

Let’s say the setup is a little more complicated or we’re setting up for the first time, it could be a 40 minute setup time.   But this increases the cost per tool only marginally for a 10 piece run.
