The Iscar Tool Advisor (ITA) is a Web-based tool selection software that bases tool selection on a mathematical algorithm to increase productivity. The software is designed to account for cutting conditions, machine power, metal removal rate and cutting time to narrow all possible tooling scenarios.
Users can enter a few mandatory fields (two to six) for quick results or complete more-detailed fields specifying machine parameters, tool diameters, tool types, grades and more. The application provides the best three tooling options, but can display as many as 25 recommendations per search.
Results include tool and insert details, cutting conditions, power, metal-removal rate and cutting time. Each search has a printable recommendation report, and the application can also email users a PDF file with the input and output. In addition, users can link to the company’s electronic catalogue, 2D and 3D tool drawings, product videos and pictures.
