Mitsubishi EDM’s new MV wire machines feature noncontact cylindrical drive technology, an improved power supply, auto-threading and deeper submerged-wire threading capabilities.

 

Unlike EDMs that use flat-plate linear motors, these machines use round magnetic shafts. The shaft creates a noncontact design using the full 360 degrees of magnetic flux. According to the company, this design virtually eliminates wear, cogging and backlash to improve energy efficiency, accuracy and speed.
