Columbia Chemical Corporation, along with five other area manufacturing companies, opened their doors to host the “Manufacturing Road Show” on November 16, providing tours to Buckeye School District ninth-graders in Brunswick, Ohio.
The event was sponsored by the Education Committee of the Medina Economic Development Corporation and was designed to enhance students’ educational experience and build awareness of the many career paths available locally. While touring the manufacturing facilities, students were exposed to various aspects of business operations including Sales and Marketing, Research and Development, Production, Human Resources, Purchasing, Accounting, Quality Control and Customer Service.
200 students participated in the program and spent the day touring two of the five local manufacturing facilities in Brunswick and Valley City. Other manufacturers that participated included MTD Products, Three D Metals, IMT and Tinnerman Industrial.
Approximately 80 students visited Columbia Chemical. Upon arrival, students were given a brief introduction of the plating industry and received safety guidelines prior to the tour from Andrew Saliga, Environmental, and Health & Safety Manager. Greg Schneider, Human Resources Manager, along with Kevin Reilley, V.P. of Operations, served as tour guides.
