When visiting machine shops to profile in our magazine, sometimes there are specific elements of a machining process or certain advantages of a machining strategy that the shop would prefer to keep under wraps. In a recent story about a Ford transmission plant, there were a couple benefits experienced by adopting minimum quantity lubrication for machining aluminum components that the company wasn’t really keen on putting out there. So I left out that stuff. But if you read this article, you might be able to consider other ways the company (and perhaps you) might benefit from MQL.
