Combination Inserts Designed With Six Cutting Edges - Iscar Metals, Inc. The Helido Upfeed H600 WXCU 08 from Iscar combines the strength of the original Helido family of tools with the Feedmill’s insert geometry to facilitate milling at high feed rates. It is possible to machine at 0.138" per tooth with this new trigon, double-sided, six-edged insert. The inserts are peripherally ground and have a 17-degree lead angle cutting edge configuration. As a result of this design, the cutting forces are directed axially toward the spindle. This is said to provide high stability and enable machining at high feed rates, even in long-overhang applications. To further increase stability, the insert is clamped into a dovetail inclined pocket. This provides additional support for machining at higher speeds and feeds. The corresponding FF FWX 08 face mill bodies are available in 2" and 5" diameters. They have coolant holes and can be applied in facing, ramping, plunging and helical interpolation applications. |
