The company will introduce its new L2 control. The
new L2 control compliments the recently introduced
eCNC control. The L2 control is like the eCNC in
that it uses the Windows 2000 operating system,
and the company's Real Time kernel uses a standard
Web browser for the CNC MMI, networking and
Internet connections.
The L2 is a lower cost hardware platform than the
eCNC with a Celeron Processor, and it supports up
to 12 axes. Stepper motors will be supported in
the future. The standard Web browser makes the MMI
screens more flexible, easier to develop and makes
it easier to make additions or changes, according
to the company.
The current controls use Visual C++ or the
company's Visualizer software for screen
development. The current Visualizer software can
also be used for screen development on the new
L2.
The L2 control is also software compatible with
the company's other CNC products.
The combination of the optional modem and the
standard Web browser software for the L2 MMI
allows remote access capability with no added
software. This remote access can be used to
monitor, report, download, upload or troubleshoot
the machine tool.
The MMI consists of a color TFT flat screen and
keyboard that can be remote from the stainless
steel IPC/CNC shell. The new slim line design
comes in a vertical look that is bolted directly
in place and is physically compatible with other
traditional CNCs. The new L2 also comes in the
