The American Welding Society (AWS) opened its new global headquarters in Doral, Florida, in November 2012. The five-story, 122,482-square-foot building will enable the society to expand its membership, publishing, exposition and educational operations. The facility is just seven miles from the previous location in Miami, where the society was located for 40 years. AWS promotes the science, technology and application of welding and serves nearly 70,000 members worldwide. The nonprofit publishes technical standards for welding and technical magazines, certifies welding professionals, and operates trade shows in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
