AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology says the recent passage of the Defense Production Act (DPA), signed into law September 30 by President Obama, could help manufacturers hit hard by the economic downturn, particularly those that continue to have problems accessing credit. The DPA was created in 1950 during the Korean War to ensure that American industry could be mobilized swiftly and effectively during wartime.

Cash For Air Compressor Clunkers - 10/19/2009
Kaeser Compressors (Fredericksburg, Virginia) says it will rebate $100 per unit of horsepower, to a maximum $1,000, for manufacturers that want to replace an inefficient compressor for a new air system. Any operational air compressor qualifies for the program, and applicants can keep their old compressors to scrap for additional cash, the company says.
Mazak Event Draws More Than 1,400 Manufacturers - 10/12/2009
Machine tool builder Mazak says more than 1,400 manufacturers from North and Central America attended its “Your Manufacturing Future? Refocus, Rediscover and Reinvent” event, which recently took place at its Florence, Kentucky headquarters.
