Portable measurement and imaging solution supplier FARO Technologies celebrates three decades in business this year. To mark the occasion, the company has ordered a custom, FARO-themed chopper from what it calls one of its “most valued customers,” Paul Jr. Designs. The motorcycle build will be featured on the Discovery Channel television series “American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior,” which premiered January 17.
Paul Jr. Designs uses the company’s FaroArm in the fabrication of its custom choppers, and this 30th-anniversary bike was no exception. Components such as the gas tank, seat pan and primary cover often have intricate shapes and contours that are difficult to capture or re-create by hand. The FaroArm enables digitizing the exact shape and placement of components, virtually eliminating the need to trace and create cardboard templates, the company says. Immediately importing collected data to a CNC machine or waterjet ensures accurate part production and saves time.
