A new eight-week-long, pilot internship program aims to introduce young adults (ages 18 to 21) from an Illinois community to manufacturing career opportunities. The venture was launched through collaboration between workholding system manufacturer Kitagawa-NorthTech (Schaumburg, Illinois), the Illinois Worknet, Medusa Consulting, and the “Golden Corridor,” a core of manufacturing businesses stretching along I-90 in northern Illinois.

Participating individuals will obtain real work experience ranging from hands-on machine shop and service department projects to warehousing. Expanding on this program, Kitagawa-NorthTech will also educate its interns about engineering, sales and customer service capabilities to display the depth of manufacturing professions.
