MAG Industrial Automation Systems (Erlanger, Kentucky) announces the formation of a new Renewable Energy Business unit to design and build automated manufacturing systems for solar panels and wind turbine components.
The new business’ operations, based in Hebron, Kentucky and Schaffhausen, Switzerland, are headed by Joe Jones in the Americas and Dr. Siegfried Schmalzried in Europe and Asia. Mr. Jones says the renewable energy business is off to a strong start. “In recent months, we have secured $30 million in contracts, which represents an approximate 30-percent share of our targeted market, putting us on track for our goal to produce 10 percent of MAG’s annual revenue.
Mr. Jones adds that while this business is new, MAG has already established itself in the renewable energy sector. During the past five years, the company has supplied more than 30 automated production lines for solar panels and pivoted its composites and machine tool automation business to concentrate on wind turbine components.
