Mastercam CAM system developer CNC Software (Tolland, Connecticut) announces the 2012 edition of the Mastercam Innovator of the Future (IOF) competition. The national competition entices students with a real-world manufacturing challenge, celebrity judges and a chance for a $1,000 scholarship. According to the company, the competition provides instructors with a motivational tool to get students excited about learning CAD/CAM and the manufacturing process.

 

The 2012 competition challenges students to design and machine a guitar bridge. A team of experts from Taylor Guitars will judge submissions based on criteria including accuracy, creativity, and part cleanliness, among others. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and a trip to Taylor Guitars’ facility in El Cajon, California.
