CNC Software (Tolland, Connecticut), the producer of Mastercam CAD/CAM software, has announced the 2013 Mastercam Innovator of the Future (IOF) national competition for students and young adults between the ages of 16 and 25. For the 2013 competition, participants must design and machine one of three possible parts: a connecting rod, a racing wheel or a short shifter. The winning part will be selected based on accuracy, creativity and cleanliness, among other criteria. The competition will be judged by a team of experts at VAC Motorsports (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania).

Entries must be programmed with a licensed copy of Mastercam software and adhere to the relevant specifications and industry standards. Each entry should consist of one finished, unpainted part, photos of the participant, machine shop or CNC machine, and information on the story behind the part. Entries are due May 15, 2013.

All contest participants will receive a Mastercam IOF shirt. The reward for the winning entry also includes $1,000 for educational expenses, a seat of Mastercam Mill Level 1 software and recognition plaques for the student and his or her school or parent. The winner will also receive a trip for two to VAC Motorsports and a day on the racetrack.
