Mastercam Opens Facility in Switzerland

Mastercam developer CNC Software (Tolland, Connecticut) has opened a new division in Switzerland that is dedicated to the development of Mastercam Swiss Expert, a programming system for Swiss-type turning machines. The company says CNC Software Europe SA’s location in Porrentruy, Switzerland will enable it to access the expertise available in that country’s Jura Region, which is known as the birthplace of Swiss machining.

 

Gary Hargreaves, vice president of business development, says the ability to drive complex Swiss-type turning machines requires dedicated software. “CAM vendors find that Swiss turning package cannot simply be a module added on to a standard package without a significant development effort,” he says. He adds that the market for Swiss machines has been steadily increasing, including among jobs shops that produce parts in smaller lots.
