Machine tool builder Mazak has announced expansions to its North American manufacturing plant, its National Technology Center and Center for Multi-Tasking and Manufacturing Excellence, and its North American Parts Center. Combined, the three facility expansions will add more than 200,000 square feet to the company’s Florence, Kentucky manufacturing campus, resulting in total floor space of 800,000 square feet.

Expanding the manufacturing plant will enable the company to increase production capacity to 200 machines per month and to support new machine models in Kentucky. That project is expected to be completed in fall of 2013. The expansion to the National Technology Center and Center for Multi-Tasking and Manufacturing Excellence is intended to provide customers with enhanced applications support and training, as well as to enable the company to demonstrate larger machines and process solutions. That expansion will also facilitate additional collaboration with the company’s eight regional technology centers as well as distributors’ technical centers. The expansion to the North American Parts Center will increase the facility’s storage capacity by 25 percent.
