Vero Software, a provider of CAD/CAM/CAE solutions for the tooling industry, has merged with Planit Holdings, a developer of CAD/CAM software for the production engineering, sheet metal, metal fabrication and woodworking sectors. The companies note that according to information from PLM consulting company CIMData, the merger creates the third largest CAD/CAM vendor behind Dassault Systemes and Siemens PLM.

The Planit Group offers software products globally under the Edgecam, Alphacam, Cabinet Vision, CabnetWare, Javelin and Radan brands. Vero focuses on plastic injection molds, sheet metal stamping dies, multi-axis milling, laser cutting and wire EDM products under the VISI, PEPS, Machining Strategist and SMIRT brands. The merger was funded by Battery Ventures (Boston, Massachusetts), which has been investing for more than 25 years in technology-driven companies.

“Across the enlarged group, the complementary products address the worldwide need for CAD/CAM/CAE technology in a large variety of focused manufacturing processes, enabling us to accelerate our growth,” says Richard Smith, CEO of Vero Software. “We fully recognize the importance of product branding and customer loyalty, and therefore, it is important to emphasize that we will continue to invest in all of the products.”
