Machine tool builder Mori Seiki has announced that it will move its U.S. headquarters to a larger facility this year. The expansion will accommodate the growth of the company's Chicago office since becoming the national headquarters in 2005. The new facility is currently in the planning stages and will be located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. It will house offices for the company's national headquarters, the Chicago Technical Center and the Machining Technology Laboratory (MTL). The new facility will also house Mori Seiki University (MSU). According to the company, the university provided more than 10,000 hours of training in 2007. It reached this milestone through the participation of more than 1,000 students, nearly 25 percent of which are customers of the machine tool manufacturer. The university offers 81 classes with a total of 983 classroom content hours. Customers can enroll to participate in classes offered at the Chicago headquarters or sign up to take courses online via the Education On Demand program.
