Effective immediately, the Westec Advanced Productivity exposition will become a biennial event, according to the organizer of the manufacturing technology trade show. The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) says the event will now alternate years with its new AeroDef Manufacturing event.
“Westec exhibitors told us the event would better serve their needs if it were biennial," explains Mark Tomlinson, executive director and general manager at SME. "The decision to alternate Westec with our new AeroDef Manufacturing event is part of SME’s West Coast strategy to focus more effectively on both the immediate and future needs of our customers.”
AeroDef Manufacturing was organized in response to demand from aerospace and defense manufacturers for an exposition focused on new technology for their industry. Scheduled for April 5-7, 2011, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, the show will address how commercial and military aircraft are designed, developed and produced and emphasize technologies that trim delivery times and control costs.
The aerospace/defense expo will alternate years with Westec. Westec 2012 is scheduled for March 27-29 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
