Larry Schwartz, former president of machine tool supplier Okuma America Corporation (Charlotte, North Carolina) has retired.
 
Mr. Schwartz’s manufacturing career has spanned more than 40 years. His 17 years with Okuma included work in manufacturing, sales and marketing and a stint as company president from 2005 to 2011. Most recently, he served as chief strategy offer. He will continue to serve in an advisory capacity for at least 18 months.
 
According to Okuma, Mr. Schwartz was instrumental in the development of the THINC-OSP control. He also was a driving force behind the creation of Partners in THINC and the Okuma Technical Centers in Chicago and Houston. During his career he also served with a number of trade organizations, including The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), The Association For Manufacturing Technology (AMT), and The American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association (AMTDA).
