The Precision Metalforming Association (Cleveland, Ohio) has elected P.J. Thompson as the 2012 chairman of the PMA boar of directors.

During his year at the helm of PMA, the president of Trans-Matic Manufacturing Company has pledged to focus on providing mid-level industry managers with training and experience that will empower them to boost metalforming companies’ competitiveness. This is important because mid-level manageres are tasked with both managing processes as well as making key, often management-level decisions involving critical success factors, he says. “Our industry’s mid-level managers have the horsepower, but in many cases they lack the fully developed skill sets required to plan and set objectives, delegate responsibilities, manage their time, negotiate and make non-routine business decisions. PMA will focus on developing training resources to address these critical but often overlooked industry needs.”

Mr. Thompson also encourages PMA members to take advantage of the association’s various events throughout the country for networking and educational opportunities that can help improve competitiveness.
