This particular report provides an industry segmentation view of the 2012 market results, with estimates and market forecasts for mainstream PLM and cPDm in eight different industry sectors: aerospace and defense; automotive and other transportation; electronics/telecommunications; fabrication and assembly; process-packaged goods; process—petrochemical; utilities; and construction, infrastructure and shipbuilding.
According to the report, most industrial sectors showed PLM growth in 2012, with utilities posting the highest growth rate at 18.4 percent, although on a small base. After several down years, spending in aerospace rebounded with 13.2 percent growth.
“While 2012 was a strong year, our forecasts are lower in 2013 and over our forecast horizon to 2017,” says Stan Przybylinski, CIMdata’s vice president of research. “In the near term, this agrees with most projections from the PLM solution providers. It is also reflective of the challenging global economic forecasts over the next five years.”
