SPI Lasers Acquires JK Lasers

The acquired company produces fiber lasers for industrial and additive manufacturing applications.

Laser manufacturer SPI Lasers (Southampton, United Kingdom), a member of the Trumpf Group, acquired high-power fiber laser manufacturer JK Lasers (Rugby, United Kingdom) April 15. As part of SPI, the facility will act as an additional production and development center for fiber lasers and optical components.

JK Lasers, until now a member of the GSI Group, has developed lasers for more than 40 years. The company’s core competence is in fiber lasers with outputs from 100 W to 4 kW, as well as combiners for joining laser sources and other beam guidance components. The most important target groups of JK Lasers include machine manufacturers for laser cutting applications and for additive manufacturing.
