Fabrication equipment and laser manufacturer Trumpf (Farmington, Connecticut) is expanding in North America with a Technology Center currently under construction in Hoffman Estates, a northwestern suburb of Chicago, Illinois. The center is being constructed on about five acres of land Trumpf purchased in October 2015. It is intended to be a center of excellence for Industry 4.0, according to the company.

The center will be approximately 50,000 square feet, housing the company’s technologies with a focus on integrating automation for visitors to observe. Additionally, the center will perform research and development, driving toward what the company calls “one-sheet-flow” sheet metal production capabilities.
