A Sign Of The Times
Steve Deam, Sr. recently placed this sign outside his Fort Wayne, Indiana shop:
As you read it, your eyes are likely drawn to the bottom phrase: “ZERO stimulus dollars at work here!” Mr. Deam, owner of CNC Industries, says he didn’t create and display this sign for political reasons, and by no means is he complaining that the government isn’t doing something specifically to help his particular business. Rather, this is his way of letting the public know that he has yet to identify anything in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that will help small shops like his actually create jobs.

Our Next Issue
Machining Big, Machining Accurately
For the shop profiled in our September issue’s cover story, the capability to machine very large workpieces has enabled it to succeed despite fluctuating economic conditions. Another feature story explains a notation method that brings order and clarity to machine tool performance evaluation efforts. A third feature story describes why one of the world’s biggest defense contractors settled on a single software platform to facilitate the measurement of huge workpieces.
