The company’s 3D laser gaging system is designed to replace manual gages like micrometers, calipers, ring gages and optical comparators, using 3D modeling, three-wire thread graphics and other graphical displays to remove human error from setups and inspections.
In the few seconds it takes to scan a part, virtually all dimensions, including lengths, diameters, radii, angles and external thread measurements, are displayed, accurate to less than a few microns, the company says. Out-of-tolerance features are highlighted in red. A complete roster of dimensions is displayed for entry into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. After tolerances are assigned with the appropriate part number, they can be stored in memory for quick recall when that part is to be inspected again.
