ShapeGrabber says its SG156 scanhead delivers a faster scanning speed than its predecessor, the SG10, in addition to a larger dynamic sensing range to scan a wider range of part types and greater tolerance to temperature changes.

An improved laser, lens, imager and mounting mechanism enable customers to double their output speed, and the addition of field of view compression can increase the speed by as much as 10 times, the company says. A speed increase of four or five times is said to be typical.

The new scanhead also features variable field of view in addition to depth of field, and a new mounting design that eases installation and removal, and provides improved precision.

The SG156 is backward-compatible with all currently installed ShapeGrabber scanners with the addition of a new mounting bracket assembly.
