3D Systems has signed agreements to acquire approximately 80 percent of Phenix Systems, a global provider of direct metal selective laser sintering 3D printers based in Riom, France.
The acquisition was expected to close in July, and after closing conditions are met 3D Systems intends to launch a take-over bid on the remaining 20 percent of the Phenix shares, which are listed on the French stock market. This will be followed by a squeeze-out procedure should it reach 95 percent of the shares or voting rights.
3D Systems also has completed its acquisition of Geomagic Inc. for $55 million in cash. The company says it expects Geomagic to be accretive to earnings and contribute approximately $17 million of revenue to its 2013 annual guidance. 3D Systems also acquired Rapidform last October.
