Machining Strategist V13 from Vero Software is a multi-axis CAM system designed to optimize HSM roughing and finishing CNC toolpaths for both office and shopfloor environments. The CAD-independent solution and can work with data from virtually all major 3D modeling systems, the company says. The software update includes support for Visi 19, and CAD interfaces have been aligned to Parasolid v24, SolidEdge ST4 and Catia v5 r21.

Used for finishing, HM waterline passes are said to combine the benefits of traditional waterline operation with a 3D pocketing routine that interacts with the main strategy whenever the shallow area between consecutive passes allows the insertion of additional passes. This method is designed to optimize surface finish and extend tool life.

HM rib machining passes are designed to machine very thin walls. Such walls are common in aerospace and other applications that involve exotic materials such as titanium. A traditional machining approach is often difficult at the end of the process when the rib is subjected to high-frequency vibrations and micro-flexes, the company says. This new strategy combines a new roughing tool path and a finishing strategy to preserve part rigidity, the company says.

Further product enhancements include improvements to helical passes and calculation speed for non-smoothed waterline passes. Different feed rates can be defined within rest machining, and combined waterline is available for steep, shallow and offset passes.
