Charged Aerosol Detector Measures Plating Bath Additives

The Dionex Corona Veo charged aerosol detector from Thermo Scientific combines high-resolution liquid chromatography with charged aerosol detection to analyze copper plating bath additives such as the accelerator, leveler and suppressor.
According to the company, such analysis requires accurate and precise measurement of both organic and polymeric compounds in a matrix containing sulfuric acid and copper sulfate. These additives lack a suitable chromophore, so sensitive detection using ultraviolet absorption is not possible. In nickel plating baths, the detector can be used for the non-chromophoric sodium dodecylsulfate measurements.
