Sumitomo Electric Carbide offers its MESI Chipbreaker for Swiss turning and small-parts machining, including medical applications. Featuring a 15-degree nose and a sharp 8-degree main edge, the inserts provide low cutting force and high wear-resistance, particularly in titanium. The wavy cutting edge is said to maintain chip control for bar feeder machines, while the incorporated dimples reduce cutting temperatures. The inserts are available in CCGT, DCGT and VCGT geometries, and AC510U, AC520U, AC530U, AC610M and AC630M grades.
