The four-axis CNC center-drive lathe from Bardons & Oliver is especially useful for maximizing machining efficiency, the company says. One 12-station turret machines the front end of the workpiece, while a second 12-station turret simultaneously machines the back end. In addition to this integrated workholding capability, the lathe allows the critical surfaces at each end of the part to be machined concentric to each other.

Built with traditional heavy-duty machine bases and turrets, the lathe is flexible and can be loaded manually, robot-loaded, or configured with a company automatic bar feed to produce finished parts from full-length raw material. The center-drive lathe can also be integrated into a cell, if required.

The lathe is effective for the production of oilfield tool joints, hydraulic accumulator bodies, axle housings, conveyor rollers and artillery shell casings. The company also offers a six-axis model center-drive with twin turrets on one end and a single turret on the other end.
