CNC Software Better Supports Multitasking Operations
Version 4.7 of the Sinumerik Operate graphical user interface (GUI) from Siemens is designed to improve machine tool multitasking.
Version 4.7 of the Sinumerik Operate graphical user interface (GUI) from Siemens is designed to improve machine tool multitasking. The GUI features extended setup and manual modes, which now interactively support the user when setting up turn-mill machines. There is also a new measurement function for turning tools, in which the setting screen automatically changes depending upon the tool type to be measured. In addition, workpiece measurement has been improved, enabling the user to check and specify the workpiece zero.
For extended tool management, the display shows every tool for the technologies used on the multitasking machine. The user can view the tool and magazine data for milling and turning tools in one display.
New functions for flexible programming through ProgramGuide and shopfloor-compatible programming with ShopMill/ShopTurn simplify multitasking machining. The Cycle800 swivel cycle now combines turning and milling technologies in one user interface. The Cycle952 contour turning cycle enables four-axis stock removal on multi-channel turning machines. In ProgramGuide turning cycles, a graphical contour calculator supports operators with dialogue-based parameter input. In ShopTurn, tools are now interactively programmed, and milling is now possible on turning machines.
