OSG Tap & Die’s Exocarb WXS end mills are designed for milling 54 to 70 HRc at high speeds. The company says its custom nanotechnology coating, WXS, increases productivity and tool life versus TiAIN coating. The coating is said to have an increased oxidation temperature to permit greater spindle speeds, which leads to faster cycle times. In addition, the optimization of the substrate with the coating treatment increases adhesion strength, thereby decreasing the possibility of chipping.
