Beyond Blast is the company’s method to deliver coolant through the insert itself. This method was developed as an enhancement to the Beyond line of milling and turning products. By channeling coolant directly at the interface of the cutter body and insert, the coolant can be delivered efficiently while removing heat and providing lubricity effectively. According to the company, enhanced coolant flow means improved tool life and high cutting speeds. Surface finish is also improved. Tests conducted by the company showed that delivering coolant through the insert at 100 psi yielded a 75-percent increase in tool life compared to the same inserts with flood coolant at 100 psi.
