Siemens’ S7-1217C CPU for the Simatic S7-1200 modular controller features the company’s version 4.0 firmware and Profinet iDevice functionality. The device is designed for controlling and monitoring tasks in mechanical and plant engineering. Applications include relay and contactor replacement, materials handling, pump control and energy management, among others.
The version 4.0 firmware enables the CPU to operate as a Profinet iDevice in addition to Profinet controller. The firmware includes real-time tracing functionality for application diagnostics and debugging, formula and recipe management, and improved access protection against unauthorized configuration modifications. The CPU features a 125-KB-capacity work memory and includes line driver ports to drive stepping motor controls at frequencies ranging to 1 MHz. Processing speed is 0.08 microseconds per operation. The CPU is equipped with 24-V DC standard inputs and outputs, Profinet functionality with two ports, and two analog inputs and outputs.
