Die/Mold VMC Designed for Increased Precision
OKK USA’s VB53 VMC is designed to achieve quality surface finish, high precision and high speed for die/mold applications.
OKK USA’s VB53 VMC is designed to achieve quality surface finish, high precision and high speed for die/mold applications. The VMC is equipped with a 20,000-rpm spindle with big plus double contact. Its X-, Y- and Z-axis travel measures 41.34" × 20.87" × 20.08", respectively. Fine-pitch ballscrews reduce the maximum rapid speed and increase overall precision, the company says. An external, isolated oil cooler removes vibration from the machine and increases die quality, the company says.
A coolant shelter prevents the casting from being exposed to chips and coolant, and counter-measures are in place to reduce thermal displacement. Additionally, positioning accuracy is increased through standard equipment such as the 0.05-micron scale feedback linear scale. The VMC’s workspace has been redesigned to enhance operator accessibility. Coil-type conveyors are designed to efficiently clear chips and move stray chips outside the machine.
