Mahr Federal features its lines of 16 EWRi Digital Calipers and Digital Indicators with MarConnect wireless data transmitters and software. According to the company, costly add-on transmitters make gages bulky and interfere with portability. Now, low-power data transmission technology has made it possible for the transmitter to be built into the digital indicator, which eliminates the need for power-hungry add-on transmitters.
The digital calipers send data to a small, inexpensive i-stick receiver (which resembles a common USB flash drive) that can be added to every workstation in the shop. Each wireless receiver supports as much as eight measuring instruments with a range as high as 12 meters, and it is suitable for most bench-top or workstation applications.
The software is designed to make data acquisition simple by wirelessly transmitting measuring data directly to MS Excel or via a keyboard code into any Windows program. It's also possible to apply the 16 EWRi wireless data collection capabilities to existing SPC applications.
Available in a range of sizes with a sleek new look, the digital calipers come with a large, clear digital display and include a number of advanced features, such as lapped guideways and a reference system that retains the zero position setting. The digital calipers are protected against dust and immersion to class IP67, and an array of advanced electronics to provide increased battery life is available offers a variety of sizes.
