The compact Kiwa-Japan KH-41 HMC is 60.2" (1,530-mm) wide and can handle a variety of workpieces, providing an ideal entry-level factory automation solution, the company says.
The HMC has a full rotary B axis and can be installed in the same space as a vertical machine. With a 400-mm pallet machine, the HMC can accommodate workpieces as large as 21.7" × 33.5".
The machine design emphasizes maximum space utilization, rigidity and speed, the company says. The drum-style ATC is said to provide speed, accuracy, rigidity and reduced cycle time. Acceleration of 1G is standard on all axes.
Editor PickWhy the Surge in HMCs?
Spending on horizontal machining centers is forecast to reach its highest level in more than a decade. Small shops in particular are buying these machines. A shop I recently visited illustrates the reason.
