The Sinumerik 802D CNC is an operator panel-based control system that combines the NC, the programmable logic controller (PLC) and the human machine interface (HMI) in a single unit. Featuring capability for machining in five axes (two of which may be spindles), the control is suited for the low- and medium-range milling and turning machine markets. Designed for efficiency and productivity, the CNC enables programming support via the company’s ShopMill and ShopTurn software packages. Other features include compact flash (CF) cards for storing, transmiting and processing part programs. Additionally, Profinet, the standard industrial Ethernet, and Profibus protocols are used for machine tool communication.
