YCM’s DCV2018A-5AX five-axis, double-column machining center is designed to meet a range of machining requirements for manufacturing in a variety of industries. It features a 90-hp, 18,000-rpm HSK-63A spindle, a Heidenhain ERA-180 rotary encoder for positioning the B/C-axis headstock for high accuracy and dual internal disc braking systems to minimize vibration while machining at high speeds. The articulating head uses a direct-drive motor and can swivel ±105 degrees in the B axis and ±360 degrees in the C axis. The company says Meehanite castings and FEM analysis with rib construction ensure effective mass arrangement to further increase five-axis accuracy. THK roller guideways on all three axes along with multiple oversized slider blocks are said to provide improved cutting characteristics in all material types. The machine is available with either a Heidenhain i-TNC530 or FANUC 31i-B5 control with Tool Center Point (TCP) software. Other features include fully enclosed guarding with top covers and a chip evacuation system, including two augers along the X axis and one lift-up chip conveyor for efficient chip removal.
